What We Do

We build datasets of comparable facilities, programs, and organizations to provide context for projections and performance assessment. Good benchmarking answers the question: what has actually happened at places like this?

We go beyond superficial comparisons. We identify comparables based on multiple dimensions—size, market, age, ownership structure, financing model—and gather actual performance data rather than relying on promotional materials or press releases.

Our Approach

We collect data through public records, financial disclosures, industry databases, direct outreach, and web research. We include underperforming and failed comparables—not just success stories—because understanding the realistic range of outcomes requires looking at what can go wrong.

Our benchmarking deliverables show where a proposed project or existing operation sits relative to peers: revenue per square foot, operating cost ratios, utilization rates, ramp-up trajectories, and other relevant metrics. We present the data clearly and explain what the comparisons do and don't tell you.

Applications

Our benchmarking work supports feasibility studies, investment appraisals, strategic planning, and performance improvement. We've built comparable datasets for sports and recreation facilities, community centers, nonprofit service organizations, and commercial real estate. The resulting databases become reference tools that clients use well beyond the original engagement.
